Hale Launches Bid to Fight for Hoosier Families in Congress
INDIANAPOLIS – Community leader and non-profit executive Christina Hale announced today that she will run for Congress in Indiana’s Fifth Congressional District, focusing her campaign on giving a voice to middle class Hoosier families in Washington.
“People want their representatives to not only understand but to feel the challenges they face. I know these challenges personally. I know the price of milk and how hard it can be to find quality daycare. I’ve been a single mom scrapping to balance work and school, and then repay my student loans and buy my first house,” said Hale. “Whether it was doing what’s best for my family or trying to get ahead in the working world, I’ve had to work for it. That’s exactly what Hoosiers can expect of me in Congress, where I’ll fight every day to make life better for people by lowering the cost of health care and working to ensure that we have an economy that works for everybody.”
Hale was first elected to the General Assembly in 2012 where she proved that despite being in the super minority, she was able to bridge political divides to pass important legislation, including bipartisan legislation to protect children from sexual violence and support small businesses. Hale’s ability to partner with anyone and her problem-solving approach earned her the support of both the AFL-CIO and the Chamber of Commerce.
Most recently, Hale served as the Executive Director of Kiwanis Youth Programs at Kiwanis International, where she has led programs locally and globally to improve the lives of children by expanding access to health care, education, and leadership opportunities. In addition to her work in the General Assembly and Kiwanis, Hale has served on the boards of Indiana Humanities, the Indiana Commission on Latino Affairs, the Domestic Violence Network, the Indiana Coalition to End Sexual Assault, Heartland Film, and IU School of Nursing Board of Advisors, among others. Hale is a graduate of Purdue University and was born and raised in Indiana.
